Professional Development

Professional development ensures that early childhood teachers provide quality care and engage students in stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning activities.

Center directors and teachers who participate in ELM are eligible to take advantage of the professional development program. The program offers educational opportunities which meet all participant professional pathways including:

  • Participation in annual in-service workshops

  • Earning early literacy continuing education units (CEUs)

  • Participation in ELM's Mentor Program for teachers aspiring to leadership roles

  • Enrollment in Hillsborough Community College's non-degree courses

  • Enrollment in the early childhood AS degree at HCC's Ybor City campus

  • Enrollment in an early childhood BS degree at University of South Florida's Lakeland campus

Internship Program

The goal of the ELM Internship program is to provide individuals with hands-on experience in the field of Early Childhood.  Interns will work and develop relationships with the classroom teachers, directors, and ELM personnel.  The collaboration promotes and enhances emergent literacy in preschool classrooms.
